We get asked a variety of questions regarding our courses and learning community – here are our top 5 frequently asked questions.

 

What is the eligibility criteria to join the ultrasound training program?

You are required to; be a healthcare professional, be in practice for two or more years in a relevant specialty and have access to high speed internet. It is also important to have the support of your employer.

 

I am a nurse, can I still join the learning community?

 Yes! Our philosophy is to, support the development of all healthcare professionals through membership of the “learning community exchange” and encourage interaction between them to benefit patient care. 

 

What is the deadline for applying for the ultrasound course?

The first intake deadline is 1st March and the second is 1st September. You can apply now by completing an online application form and then registering with the learning community, free of charge.

 

How are students assessed on the ultrasound courses?

Our online medical courses have in-course ‘single best answer’ quizzes, on-line discussions, assignments, and a final theory and practical exam. For clinical modules, students will be required to submit summative and reflective practice assignments from their workplace.

 

How often can I use the simulator if I sign up to one of your ultrasound courses?

It is available from 9am-5pm, Monday to Friday, subject to availability. You can use the simulator as much as you need to acquire your skills in ultrasound!

Introducing, Dr Jacqueline Scott

Dr Scott is a General Practitioner and is based in Cardiff, Wales. She studied Medicine at the University of Melbourne, graduating with honours in 1980. She has practised in both, Australia and the United Kingdom. Her postgraduate qualifications include a Diploma of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. Dr Scott is committed to the provision of high quality educational programmes, which are tailored to each individual learner, allowing them to achieve their personal goals within a well supported framework.

Professor Amso

Introducing you to Professor Nazar Amso

Professor Amso, a member of staff in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the School of Medicine, Cardiff University (1998-2016) and also a Senior Consultant in Gynaecology and Reproductive Medicine at the University Hospital of Wales (1998-2016). He retired from the University in February 2016 but continues in clinical practice at Spire Cardiff Hospital. He was the Ultrasound lead for the Welsh Deanery (2008-2016) and a member of the Deanery’s School of Obstetrics and Gynaecology training committee (1999-2016). He was also a member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists Specialist Training Committee (1999-2002) and the RCOG Welsh Executive Committee (2003-2010). He was the founding President of the British Society for Gynaecological Imaging.

Profema Fetal Medicine Centre

We are delighted to announce that we have established an educational partnership with Dr Veronika Frisova and the Profema- Fetal Medicine Centre in the Czech Republic. Dr Frisova and her team share our passion for education.  We are now able to offer Fetal Medicine training to our students at the centre,  making training more accessible for many. We endeavour to support our students’ acquisition of practical skills closer to their work or home and now we are able to offer training within the Czech Republic.
