Easy Access

Our UK Students

Our Diploma students in the UK will benefit considerably from access to the simulation centre and clinical training facilities in Cardiff. The ScanTrainer simulator is available through a booking system, Monday – Friday 09:00-13:00 | 13:00-17:00, except during exams periods or when we are running other courses. From educational perspective, your booked session must be a minimum of 3 hours. Non-utilisation of a full booking will reduce your practice entitlement. Analysis of our data has identified strong links between hours spent practising on the ScanTrainer and passing the practical exams. For more information on our associated training facilities follow this link.

Focussed Learning

Non-Diploma students

We have adapted our Diploma modules so that they align fully with UK professional bodies’ curriculums. Our customised short obstetric modules help UK trainees prepare for the RCOG basic and intermediate ultrasound modules. We also support trainees of the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Health (FSRH) and British Fertility Society (BFS) with customised modules to prepare them for successful completion of their respective ultrasound modules.

In More Detail…

Customised Modules

In addition to the learning resources, you have access to simulation practice and receive faculty feedback on submitted images and cases reports from your work. We offer you the opportunity to sit a knowledge test on completion of the module, free of charge. For a small fee, you can sit the practical skills exam to “sign you off” your special skills module.

Simulation Practice

The simulator is available during working hours Monday-Friday through a booking system. Basic and advanced obstetric, gynaecology and general medical modules are available on the ScanTrainer simulator. In addition, the vast image library of more than 500 cases will take you well beyond standard learning in developing your skills.
